LEVEL 1 – INTRO TO WATER SKILLS
Prerequisites: No Prior Experience Needed
Skills Taught
- Enter & exit water safely
- Submerge mouth, nose, and eyes
- Exhale underwater and open eyes
- Float on front and back with support
- Explore arm and leg movements
LEVEL 2 – FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS
Prerequisites: Comfortable in water, can submerge face, float with support
Skills Taught
- Fully submerge and hold breath for 10 seconds
- Front and back glides
- Float without support
- Roll from front to back and back to front
- Swim using combined arm and leg actions
- Tread water using arm and leg motions
LEVEL 3 – STROKE DEVELOPMENT
Prerequisites: Can float unassisted, glide, & swim a few yards
Skills Taught
- Enter & exit water safely
- Submerge mouth, nose, and eyes
- Exhale underwater and open eyes
- Float on front and back with support
- Explore arm and leg movements
LEVEL 4: STROKE IMPROVEMENT
Prerequisites: Swim at least 15 yards of front crawl and back crawl, tread water
Skills Taught
- Swim underwater for 4 body lengths
- Headfirst entry from compact and stride positions
- Tread water using multiple kicks
- Swim 25 yards of front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke
- Introduce butterfly stroke
- Open turns on front and back
