Congratulations Jacob Beckman!

Big congratulations to Bishops Bay’s own Jacob Beckman, who took home the title at this year’s Ray Fischer Amateur Championship, a prestigious amateur championship that draws top talent from across the Midwest. Jacob sealed the win in a dramatic three-way, three-hole playoff after an impressive 36-hole performance. We’re incredibly proud of his hard work and composure under pressure.

You can read more about his outstanding performance in the full article from Wisconsin Golf.

If you’ve played a few rounds already this summer, you’ve probably noticed the greens are rolling nicely—and we want to keep them that way. One simple habit can make a big difference: repairing ball marks.

In our latest video, we cover a few easy ways to be more mindful out on the course—and to leave things better than you found them.

First, when you’re headed to the green, try carrying your wedge, putter, and sand bottle with you. As you approach the green, set them down in a spot you’ll have to walk past on your way off. This helps prevent leaving equipment behind and keeps play moving smoothly.

Now, onto the greens. After any shot, even short ones from just 20 yards off, it’s important to check for a ball mark. Especially when the greens are soft from rain, nearly every shot will leave some kind of indentation.

We’ve seen some improvement this year already—thank you!—but there’s still room to grow. To repair a ball mark properly, we recommend the free single-prong tools available in the golf shop. Rather than lifting the turf, gently push in around the edge of the mark and tamp it down with your putter. Done right, the spot will be nearly invisible.

We also showed an example of a ball mark that went a few days without being fixed. Even with a delayed repair, you’ll see a lingering brown spot. A few seconds of attention now prevents weeks of damage later.

It only takes a moment to fix your own mark—and maybe one or two others nearby. If each of us makes that effort every time we play, we’ll enjoy smoother, healthier greens all season long.

Thanks for doing your part, and enjoy your time out on the course this summer!
