Trackman Data Overview
When you come out to use the Trackman to work on your game this winter we want you to have an understanding of what the different data points are telling you. Below is a 7 iron shot that John hit and a basic explanation of what the numbers mean.
Clubhead Speed
Speed of clubhead in miles per hour at impact. John was 80.3-PGA Tour average is 90mph.
Attack Angle
This is the angle the club head is traveling into the ball. A negative number means you are hitting down on the ball into impact. John was -5.2-PGA Tour average is -4.3.
Ball Speed
This is the speed of the golf ball as it leaves the club. John was 115mph-PGA Tour average is 120mph.
Spin Rate
This is the amount of backspin in revolutions per minute on the golf ball. John was 5,313 and PGA Tour average is 7,097. John used a strong lofted distance iron with less loft than most tour players prefer.
Carry
Simply how many yards the golf ball flew in the air. John was 164.7-PGA Tour average is 172 yards.
Smash Factor
This is a measure of how well you transfer club head speed into ball speed. Striking the ball in the sweet spot will produce a higher smash factor and ideal for a driver is 1.50. John was 1.43 and PGA Tour average is 1.33. John used a very forgiving “fast” face iron for example while PGA Tour players use less forgiving irons.
Face Angle
This is the angle of your club face at impact relative to the straight line(black line ahead of mat). A closed face will have a negative number and an open face will be a positive number. John was 1.2 degrees open-PGA Tour not listed.
Launch Angle
This is the angle the ball is launched upward toward the target. John was 16.8 degrees-PGA Tour average 16.3.
Side
Side means how many feet the ball lands in relation to where it was hit from. John was 8 feet to the right-PGA Tour not listed.
Total
This is how many yards with roll the golf ball traveled. John was 174.7-PGA Tour not listed.
Club Path
This is a measurement of your swing path in relation to the target. A positive number would be considered inside to out and a negative number would be considered outside to inside. John was 1.6 degrees inside to out-PGA tour not listed.
Land Angle
This is the angle the ball is flying when it makes contact with the ground. John was 44.3 degrees-PGA Tour average is 50 degrees.
Height
This is the maximum height the ball flew during the shot in feet. John was 83 feet-PGA Tour average is 104 feet.
The Trackman unit can actually measure several other data points for those of you who event want to analyze even more but generally the ones listed above will be what you see on the default screen.
Trackman Simulator Best Practices
- Use the bagrack along the stone wall to hold your clubs when hitting so area behind the hitting mat stays clear.
- Please use the front entrance of the clubhouse when using the simulator.
- Wear an athletic type shoe or your non-spiked golf shoes when hitting.
- Please make sure your clubs are relatively clean so they don’t transfer dirt to the golf balls which then discolor the screen(screen is new this winter).
- The ball should be set in the middle of the mat in line with the black tape line ahead of the mat.
- Use the plastic tees that are provided.
- Golf balls will be provided, please do not take them and/or please do not use a golf ball if the cover has any visible or physical damage.
- Please be cognizant of your allotted time and understand that if your time is finished you may have to stop your round of golf or practice prior to completion.
- Children 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times of use.
- When booking a starting time, please read the confirmation email with additional information.
Also please see below for the limited Winter Menu, which will be available outside of normal dining hours.
