Spring is moving quickly at the Club, and the season is beginning to take shape across golf, racquets, events, and member news. From early-season work around the Club and on the course, updates to the tennis courts, highlights from recent events, and more, there is a lot happening as we head into the heart of the season.
We are also excited to celebrate a standout accomplishment from one of our own, as a Bishops Bay member recently delivered a record-setting high school golf performance.

Member Shoutout:
Congratulations to Bishops Bay member Sammy Forslund, who delivered an outstanding performance earlier this week at the Spartan Invite at Blackhawk Country Club.
Sammy, a student of Bishops Bay golf instructor Barrett Kelpin, shot a 64 and set a new Middleton High School scoring record. An incredible accomplishment and a great moment to celebrate.
Run for the Roses Highlights
Chilly weather forced our annual Kentucky Derby Run for the Roses party inside this year, but that didn’t stop us from celebrating in style. We turned the Lakeside Lounge into Derby central, with specialty cocktails, activities, and live music.
This was the 152nd Kentucky Derby and it ended in dramatic fashion, with longshot Golden Tempo charging from the back of the field to win by a neck over Renegade. The victory also made history, as trainer Cherie DeVaux became the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner. Ocelli finished third, rounding out an exciting and memorable Run for the Roses.
Pavement Project Completed
The paving work near the Manor and Golf Shop wrapped up on schedule earlier this week. This project was part of our kitchen renovation project, most of which finished up last month.
Now that paving is complete, a new fence will be installed to screen the trash and recycling area, consistent with prior renderings.
Tennis Courts Were Resurfaced
Our clay tennis courts were resurfaced this week as we prepare to open the courts next week for the season ahead.
This process includes removing and refreshing the top layer of court material, smoothing and leveling the playing surface, and preparing the courts so they play more consistently once they reopen. A lot goes into maintaining these courts throughout the year, which requires a lot of effort and diligence on the part of Bubba and his team.
Below you will find some videos showing the work that goes into this process. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on the courts soon!
TaylorMade Tour Truck Experience club fitting day
This week we hosted our first club fitting day with TaylorMade’s Tour Truck Experience, offering members the rare opportunity to get custom fit with the latest equipment and walk away with clubs built on-site and ready within 24 hours.
A fitting day at the club is one of the easiest ways to make sure your equipment matches your swing. You’ll get expert guidance and the chance to test different head and shaft combinations in a relaxed, familiar setting, often leading to better consistency, improved distance and dispersion, and more confidence on the course.

Early Season Aerification and Turf Maintenance
Aerification is a crucial maintenance practice for keeping golf courses healthy and in top condition, and earlier this week our Agronomy Team spent some time aerifying the course and doing some early season turf maintenance to get ready for the season. By creating small holes in the turf, this process improves airflow, water absorption, and nutrient exchange, promoting stronger root growth and overall turf health. Though the results may be visible for a short time, aerification ensures the long-term quality and playability of the greens, helping golfers enjoy better conditions all season long.
